Breakfast in Milwaukee

While on the get out and vote tour we had a special weekend breakfast together in Milwaukee. While I quite liked my breakfast burrito, veggie sausage and soy cappuccino, Adam Horovitz raised the stakes not only with his super sized biscuit and gravy, but with his beverage choice. I forget the name, but it was a bloody mary with bacon strips up in it served with a bottle of Miller as a chaser. Non of this was anything for me, but I like the aesthetics of that little Miller bottle.

documenting the last 2 gala events!!!

dear patrons of the arts,

we are planning to document the last 2 gala event shows of this tour. but we are also interested in your experience of getting ready for the shows to get another perspective on the events.

so if you have tickets for either the detroit (sept 25th) or chicago (sept 26th) gala event shows, and you own a video camera, please begin to document your preparations for the show.

if you are shopping for an outfit, or picking one out from your closet, getting mentally and physically prepared for the show, doing your squat thrusts or drinking margaritas… whatever it is that you do in the days, hours, minutes, leading up to the show, please document it. you can also bring your camera to the show to record your arrival, hanging out at the show, leaving, driving home….. of course we are not looking to make another AIFST! but you are welcome to use your camera to document your experience at the show.

and then send us the footage, and we will try to include it in our film of the show.

if you want to register to be a part of this, please email us at this address - galaevent2007@yahoo.com - and put “GALA EVENT 2007″ in the subject line.

as always, thank you for your patronage, and we’ll see you on the ice.

THE 11th HOUR

The 11th Hour

wow, am i really finally in here writing this? i have been trying to make this stupid blog thing work for weeks. what the hell? ok, i’ll stop weeping about it and just be glad to be inside the matrix at last…

anyway, i wanted to post about this flick i saw the other day “THE 11th HOUR” (yes i did blast yall about it, but some people don’t get the blasts….) so i’m posting it here. and since i saw it on tour, i’m putting it in the tour section.

this is a film that everyone should see. it’s a film about global warming. you could think of it like “an inconvenient truth” was chapter 1, and “THE 11th HOUR” is chapter 2. check out this link to see where it’s playing and find out more about the film.

Istanbul

We had never been to or played in Istanbul. I had heard nothing but great things and I have to say it lived up to the billing. Fun show, beautiful festival site. A good time was had by band and crew. Just wish he had had some more time there to check things out. Sill, I felt very greatful to get out and see the European/subcontinent/md Eastern crossover that is Istanbul. Deffinately a buzzing energy juping off here, but it can be laid back too.

Barcelona

I will try try to get some photos from my peeps. I didn’t take that many. Too busy experiencing this beautiful sea side city. We got to spend some real quality time here. I have to say, we are feeling the 2 shows in one city lifestyle, allowing us to actually get out and see the city a little bit. Also, the Sonar festival was a fun thing to be part of. Much happening all over the city.

Portugal!!!

OK, once again, sorry for the chronic tardiness. But hey, we’ve been darned busy touring here in Europe and enjoying it! Here are some photos from Lisbon, Portugal, the first stop on our current European tour. I have to say we all enjoyed it. Beautiful city, excellent food, great espresso (necessary to ward off jet lag and keep us practicing for many hours.) Even surf right near by. I was also very lucky to have some good friends there to guide my journey. Big ups, lick shots and thanks to them.

Seattle and the Sasquatch

Posessed, croc Yauch, action, croc Jimmy James intro crocIn action, sunset

OK, so it took me a minute to get all these photos up from our class trip last week to Seattle and the Sasquatch festival. Hopefully I will get quicker in the near future. But right now we still are mad biz with band practice for Europe. Over all it was a good trip. It was nice to have the Crocodile show to try to figure stuff out. The Saturday @ Sasquatch was just a beautiful all around day. Hung out pretty much all day and night there watching music. Big ups to Electralane. Fun to play that day around sunset and get to watch Arcade Fire and Bjork after. Both turned in great sets. Would love to have seen MIA. Hopefully we will get to see her soon some where. Sunday got a little weird with the wind kicking up, but still happy I got to see the Bad Brains and Money Mark.
Peace
-Mike

Root Down in Seattle

ok, I still have much photos and what not to post as well as my harsh rants, but here is a short clip of us playing “Root Down…Get It” @ our “Gala Event” instrumental show on the Sasquatch festival’s Wookie stage Saturday.
